Senate bill threatens minority business funding

Minority businesses may be in jeopardy of losing critical funding assistance if a soon-to-be introduced state bill receives approval.

Senate Bill 1013 would, if passed, transfer $5 million from the Pennsylvania Minority Business Development Fund to be Small Business First Fund, a general fund that provides loans to any qualifying small business.

According to state Rep. Bill Robinson, D-Schenley Heights, efforts to promote minority business development would be "severely hampered if not crippled," if the legislation is approved by the House.
