Rutherford chosen high school Player of the Year

PITTSBURGH (AP)--Rod Rutherford, Perry Traditional Academy's quarterback-defensive back, was touted by college recruiters as Pennsylvania's best high school football player at the start of the season.

Rutherford is one player who lived up to the hype, winning The Associated Press Big School Player of the Year award in a close vote by sportswriters and sportscasters over running back Dustin Picciotti of Central Bucks West.
