Hugh Price surprised the National Urban League and most of the country with his resignation Nov. 7.

"There is never a good time to leave the job of a lifetime. But after nearly nine rewarding and intense years at the helm of the National Urban League, I have decided that it is time for me to seek a new professional challenge and for the board to enlist fresh leadership for the 21st century," Price told the board of trustees.
