PHILADELPHIA--Michael H. Read, a partner with Pepper Hamilton LLP, became president-elect of the Pennsylvania Bar Association at the close of its annual meeting last month. He will assume the presidency of the PBA in May 2004, becoming the first African-American to lead the 108-year-old organization.

Reed concentrates his practice in bankruptcy and insolvency law. He is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a member of the American Law Institute.
