Allegheny Common Pleas Judge Cheryl Allen's name is synonymous with fairness and reform of juvenile court. She is hoping the work she has done, along with some statewide campaigning, will be enough to convince voters to elect her to the state Supreme Court.

The 55-year-old Wilkinsburg resident announced her candidacy at the Rivers Club Jan. 7.

If successful, she would be the first Black female to be elected to the Supreme bench.
