Dallas NAACP suspension triggers cautious responses: The hard stance that the national office took in this matter seems to have silenced many local chapters

Many NAACP officials are not commenting on former Dallas NAACP President Lee Alcorn's resignation. Others are choosing their words wisely.

Alcorn, who served the NAACP for two decades, criticized Democratic vice presidential hopeful Joseph Lieberman, an Orthodox Jew, on a Dallas radio talk show Aug. 9.
