Obasanjo ahead in poll

NIGERIA--Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is showing a comfortable lead in the presidential elections, with partial results showing him with 75 percent, compared to 20 percent for his closest rival Muhammadu Buhari.

So far results have been declared for 213 out of 774 constituencies--most of them in the south, where support for Obasanjo is strongest.

People are anxiously awaiting the outcome of Nigeria's first civilian-run presidential elections for 20 years.
