St. John opens new operating room with latest innovations; Arab American physician a pioneer in minimally invasive surgery

DETROIT - A state-of-the-art surgery suite built specifically for minimally invasive surgery procedures has opened at St. John Hospital and Medical Center. The new room features the Hermes-voice activated video system where lights, cameras and printer respond to the surgeon's voice. This equipment provides video pictures to monitors and a printer from inside the patient.

This system also permits the nurse in the OR to focus more on patient care, and less on adjusting equipment for the surgeon.
