Worsted yarn: Trend of high material costs and low product prices

Sales of worsted yarn to the Bishu weaving district continue to be sluggish. Australian wool and materials continue to register high prices, but the effect is yet to be felt. The market price of imported worsted yarn on September 26 was 1,200 yen/kg for 48 two ply yarn and 1,280 yen for 60 two ply yarn. Since the start of the new wool year (July 2003-June 2004), Australian wool prices have maintained nearly 900 Australian cent/kg.
