We welcome the initiative for further discussion about the mechanism of eutectic solidification in Al-Si alloys. In recent years, extensive investigations of the eutectic solidification of aluminum-silicon alloys using directional solidification, as well as sand and permanent mold castings, and a wide variety of characterization techniques have been carried out in our laboratory.[1-9] The results have certainly provided new information regarding the operating mechanisms of eutectic solidification in Al-Si alloys, particularly eutectic nucleation, and we appreciate the opportunity to discuss ...
