Understanding & controlling beryllium hazards

Preventing lung disease due to exposure to asbestos and silica has received considerable attention. Although it is less-recognized, beryllium is another occupational cause of interstitial fibrotic lung disease. Its use is common in electronics, x-ray machine manufacturing, nuclear weapon production, aerospace applications, production of non-sparking copper alloy tools and many other settings.
