Meditations on racoons and a fear-free holiday season

I was perched on a step leading up to my backyard deck the other day. I had just enough light left, before nightfall, to bundle up my cardboard recycling. Mindless periods like these, I usually devote to deep concentration (also potentially mindless).

The furry truth. As I was twisting up the paper twine, I felt a little pressure on my leg, which, as I turned my eyes to the right, was a racoon!
