It's an integral part of aviation, yet nothing is as misunderstood as the prop
A general-aviation airport had closed its runways on a warm, fall weekend so that a hot-air balloon festival could be held on the site. A local flight school taxied a Cessna 172 to a grassy area and shut it down near a "flying information" table for use as an attention-getting and educational exhibit.
Dozens of young children and their parents lined up for a chance to peek inside the cockpit. Others milled around outside the aircraft, looking it over and asking questions of the flight instructors stationed nearby.
