Commerce department looks to paperless Web-based solutions

When Commerce Department Secretary William Daley discovered, after returning from a foreign trip, that he had to fill out his travel voucher by hand, he decided to go paperless instead. The U.S. Department of Commerce last summer unveiled an initiative to transform the management and work processes of one of the largest and most public-oriented federal agencies by shifting them to a worldwide web-based intranet architecture by 2002.
