Trinity College's demise confounds trend

By managing to survive for the past 40 years, Trinity College of Vermont in Burlington bucked a trend among women's schools in the United States, three-quarters of which have shut their doors since 1960.

But by ending its status as an independent liberal arts college catering to women, Trinity is now bucking another, more positive trend among its peer institutions,
