CID fund blasts past projection

CID Equity Partners has leaped into mezzanine funding with a resounding bang, raising its biggest fund yet at $146.5 million.

The private-equity fund for investing in growing midsize companies closed March 2 and is nearly 50 percent larger than CID anticipated when it began seeking investors in November.

"We set out to raise $100 million and thought we would cap it at $125 million," said John Hackett, managing general partner of CID. "But there was overwhelming response to the fund."
