Dr Roger Perry, president of Champlain College, began his teaching career on an island in the South Pacific, where his students had to wrest a living directly from the sea and the land after leaving school.

Perry is still in the business of preparing students to excel at working and earning a living. Champlain College values the liberal arts and finds room for them in its career programs in business and services, but it places readiness to work first among its priorities.
