Editor's note: Long before most other specialties took on the task of tying their efforts into departmental and hospital information systems, nuclear medicine specialists worked with computers on a daily basis. As the rest of the medical world has become electronically interconnected, however, many nuclear medicine departments have lagged behind imaging and clinical departments in integrating daily work into larger hospital information systems and in making full use of the advancing range of archiving and interpretation tools.
