The difference between the private automobile and public transportation is like the difference between our own backyard and a public park. We care about both, but in different ways. The private automobile is our personal space. Purchased for our own needs and maintained with our own hands, it belongs to us alone. The public park, however grand and beautiful, is maintained by others and belongs to everyone together.
