Ego state therapy as treatment for severe stomach pains after sexual intercourse: A case presentation
|
This paper reflects on the use of hypnosis, hypnotherapy and specifically ego state therapy as treatment modality for an adult patient suffering from the aftermath of childhood sexual trauma. The patient complained of suffering from severe stomach pains after sexual intercourse and further investigation revealed the existence of two ego states related to her psycho-symptomatology. The case presentation highlights the therapeutic process followed (using hypnotherapy and ego state therapy) in treating the patient as well as their effectiveness.
