HOPE IS A CENTRAL JEWISH CONCEPT. THE ANTHEM OF the modern State of Israel, in fact, is entitled Ha-Tikvah, The Hope. Traditional Jewish expressions of hope apply to what can be attained in this life, a Messianic future, and life after death.
