When the American Home Economics Association awarded Hazel Metz Fox its Borden Award in 1969, she was described as a woman "concerned with nutrition in the broadest sense of the word." These words describe Fox aptly, for she was a multifaceted researcher, teacher, and long-time administrator. More importantly, though, Fox's students and colleagues considered her a great mentor in the nutritional sciences; they also admired her approach to life.
