Inmarsat changes its colours and goes private

LONDON - As scheduled, the satellite organisation, Inmarsat, last month ceased to be an intergovernmental treaty organistion. Its signatories now "shareholders", Inmarsat will take on the roles and obligations of a private company.

Shareholders moved quickly to elect 12 board directors, a chairman and vice chairman. Other board members (Table 1) were selected from Inmarsat's 15 biggest owners, as ranked by investor shares at the end of last year.
