The organization leader as king, warrior, magician and lover: How Jungian archetypes affect the way men lead organizations

Abstract
Archetypes are power centers in the psyche of every male and female. This essay applies the theory of the masculine archetypes of King, Warrior, Magician and Lover to organization leadership. Jung's theory of archetypes, responses to feminist criticism of masculine archetypes, and how the four healthy male archetypes and their eight Shadow forms of Tyrant, Weakling, Sadist, Masochist, Manipulator, "Innocent, "Addict, and Impotent affect male leadership is presented. Suggestions for how men can become healthier leaders are made.
