Information about the earth's crust and mantle in offshore regions has been obtained largely from multichannel seismic experiments, sometimes supplemented in the wide-angle range by ocean bottom recorders. Most of these instruments are equipped with a hydrophone only (ocean bottom hydrophone, OBH). Restricting to the monitoring of pressure wave events is sufficient in most many cases and enables work with a relatively uncomplicated instrument.1
