When Jay Hicks was the top health care analyst with a Boston investment firm in the early 1990s, he looked at his future there and wasn't sure he liked what he saw.
"It was a good job, but I saw the future as every day being the same," says Hicks, a native of Granville, Ohio, and graduate of the MBA program at Boston University. "I wanted to get away from just investing to being an owner-operator."
