RV Hesperides upgraded through networking program

The upgrading program discussion started in spring 2002. All the retrofit work has been contracted to Izar Repair Shipyard in Cartagena, Spain. Simrad Spain has, in cooperation with the Kongsberg Maritime hydroacoustics department (Horten, Norway) and Kongsberg Defense and Aerospace (Stjordal, Norway), secured the contract for the upgrade program of the Spanish oceanographic research vessel Hesperides.

The vessel, which has been in operation since 1991, has been sailing to the Antarctic every year for research purposes, serving the Spanish Research Council and other governmental institutions.
