Walking into a Craftsman-designed bungalow echoes that mind-set. There is a feeling of openness here. The living room spreads out and flows into the dining room and the beamed ceiling overhead sets off the fireplace, the heart of the room. The stained floors are softened by the gentle colors of a hand-knotted carpet. The furniture is plain, upright and unfussy. No plump upholstery here.
