INDIANAPOLIS - Modesto, Calif., racer Jerry Jenkins, who lost an incredibly close final-round battle to Peter Biondo at the 2001 Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, survived five intense rounds of competition to win the third annual Mopar Performance SS/AA Hemi Challenge, contested during NHRA's 49th running of the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park. In the Challenge final, Jenkins wheeled his '68 Barracuda to an 8.84 to collect the $10,000 first-place prize after his opponent, Modesto neighbor Dave Raybourn, red-lighted.
