Scandium deposit discovered in New South Wales

The drilling of a nickel-cobalt deposit in New South Wales, Australia, also discovered a possible large deposit of scandium. Jervois Mining said that geophysical surveys and host-rock drilling turned up the unexpected scandium discovery at the deposit located southwest of Port Macquarie.

Jervois Mining said the deposit contains about 12.4 Mt (13.6 million st) of ore grading 1.53% nickel equivalent, or 80 kt (88,000 st) of nickel.
