USS Midway approved as San Diego museum ship

Early in July, the Navy announced that the transfer of the retired carrier USS Midway (CV-41) to San Diego's SDACM organization has been approved by the Pentagon. This decision, long awaited by this most aggressive and patient group of preservationists, marks the first major new visitor attraction to this city in more than 20 years. Midway will join the Star of India and other historic vessels along the colorful San Diego waterfront.
