INTRODUCTION
Energy has assumed unrelenting importance as an indispensable input for economic development. Agricultural experts and economists all over the world have marshalled ample evidence to support that energy use per hectare has direct bearing on the crop yields. Indian agriculture has witnessed a tremendous transformation since Independence particularly due to the green revolution of the sixties and the white revolution of seventies.
