While many people know that color can be protected as part of an overall trademark design or as part of the trade dress of a product, they may not realize that a color can be a trademark and, as such, subject to legal protection. It was in 1995 that the U.S. Supreme Court held that a color could be a trademark and could be registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
