Diatomaceous earth plus heat can destroy insect pests
For many years, insect management in food processing facilities has relied on fumigating with methyl bromide.
However, methyl bromide is a suspected ozone-depleting compound and it is scheduled to be banned in the United States by 2005. With the impending loss of this chemical, alternative management tools are being developed and evaluated for controlling pests.
