ABSTRACT
Most adults diagnosed with cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) receive rehabilitation services to maximize their functional independence. However, few reports specifically address respiratory muscle strengthening following a CVA. The purpose of this pilot study was to compare the pulmonary function of adults following their first CVA with established normal adult standards to explore whether respiratory muscle strength and endurance are depressed following an initial CVA.
