New law lets pets in federally assisted housing

WASHINGTON, D.C.-After more than two years, President Bill Clinton recently signed a new law which would allow pets in federally assisted housing developments. The new law, enacted at presstime, is estimated at affecting hundreds of thousands of people, currently barred from owning pets.

AVMA was part of Pets-in-Housing Coalition, a group of 18 other organizations lobbying in support of the new law, who claimed victory for animal owners and pets.
