Hidden, long-term costs can add up quickly for owners

When faced with the choice of integrating control systems of different age, model, and/or manufacture or opting for a complete replacement, owners often base their decision on the lower first cost of an integrated system. What they fail to consider are what can be the hidden, long-term costs of integration.

Integration requires not only installation, testing, and checkout of individual components, but installation and verification of software and databases-the "glue" that holds the equipment together and makes the two systems work as one. ...
