Visy starts up new pulp line

AUSTRALIA

Australia's Visy Paper has started up a new A$400 million ($200 million) pulp line at its greenfield mill in Tumut, New South Wales. The 629 tonne/day unbleached kraft pulp line was supplied by Kvaerner. The Anglo-- Norwegian supplier also provided the recovery boiler, power boiler and lime kiln.

The new pulp line will supply 80% of the furnish for the mill's 240,000 tonne/yr kraftliner PM 9 from Voith Paper. Recovered paper will make up 20% of the furnish, resulting in a total consumption of 50,000 tonnes/yr. PM 9 has been using only recovered paper as furnish since its ...
