Are consumers in the dark about the safety of laxatives?

Think consumers who take laxatives really know what they are taking? According to a telephone survey among 513 adult laxative users aged 18 and over, 84% of consumers are unable to name the active ingredient in their laxative. This finding shows that there is a good opportunity for pharmacists to shed some light on the proper use of these products, as customers step up to the register.
