The Workers' Compensation laws are pretty straightforward.
Usually, an employer agrees to pay an injured worker's medical bills and wages in exchange for an agreement from the worker not to sue the veterinary practice for negligence or damages. For this, state law mandates that every employer must maintain Workers' Compensation insurance.
Workers' Compensation insurance is also pretty straightforward. It pays most of the income of a worker who injures him or herself on the job. In fact, therein lies the "rub."
