Garnet is the general name given to a group of complex silicate minerals. all of them have crystalline structures classified in the isometric crystal system and similar chemical compositions. Garnet has been used as a gemstone for centuries. However, the angular fractures, high hardness and high specific gravity of garnet, combined with its ability to be recycled, make it desirable for many industrial applications.
