10 tips on weight and balance

1 If it's been more than three years since your aircraft has been physically weighed, consider having it done.

2 If your aircraft has been painted since its current empty weight, consider having it weighed again.

3 Take a minute and remove everything you've got stuffed into seat pockets, glove boxes, under the seats or in the baggage compartment over the years. Weigh them. You might be surprised at their amount.

4 Vacuum the inside. It's not unusual for a small plane to have five to 10 pounds of dirt inside, especially in the carpets.
