Upcoming television events for dance fans

The PBS series "Great Performances" airs the premiere of "Othello from San Francisco Ballet" June 18 at 9:30 pm (check local listings). Choreographed by Lar Lubovich, "Othello from San Francisco Ballet" stars Desmond Richardson as Othello. SFB principal Yuan Yuan Tan dances the part of Desdemona, while Parrish Maynard plays Shakespeare's supervillain lago.

Lubovich choreographed the piece based on material from Shakespeare's 1605 tragedy as well as the 1566 Giraldi Cinthio novella upon which the play was based. Emil de Cou leads the San Francisco ...
