After five weeks of detention, Palestinian American charged with aiding terrrorism

Following five weeks of being held without charges in a federal prison in Oregon, Maher "Mike" Hawash, a Palestinian born in Nablus and raised in Kuwait, was arraigned at an April 29 detention hearing. As supporters gathered inside the courtroom and on the street, the court issued a criminal complaint charging Hawash with conspiracy "to levy war against the United States...to provide material support and resources to foreign terrorist organizations, and...to contribute services to al-Qaeda and the Taliban."
