The difference between full-load efficiency and nameplate is indicated by colors

GREEN, YELLOW, RED . . . WHAT COLOR IS your motor? No, we're not referring to the finish paint. Rather, those colors have been used to denote the degree of agreement between actual motor full-load efficiency and the value shown on the motor nameplate, required by NEMA standards, and tabulated in the 1992 Energy Policy Act, or EPACT. For any user who (for whatever reason) feels that any motor design fails to comply, a thorough understanding of just what compliance involves is essential. The issues are complex.
