Hyperopic holmium: YAG treatment shows early promise

CHICAGO-New data indicate that non-contact holmium:YAG thermokeratoplasty may be a reasonable option for the treatment of low hyperopia. And, according to Manus C. Kraff, MD, who presented phase III data, there seems reason to believe that, finally, the results achieved may remain stable.
"This procedure is both user- and recipient-friendly. I think it will have a definite place in the treatment of hyperopia, and it may be indicated for the treatment of overcorrected PRK and LASIK," said Dr. Kraff, who is a clinical professor at Northwestern University, Chicago.
