One September day in 1949, Bill Veeck buried the American League pennant beyond center field in Cleveland Stadium. He put on a top hat and led a funeral procession, horses and hearse and all to a grave site just beyond the fence. Indians manager Lou Boudreau was one of the pallbearers, along with some of his players.
