Flood of new drugs keeps physicians guessing about allergic reactions

CLEVELAND- Allergic reactions to drugs have been around for as long as drugs have been taken, but today the problem is getting worse, according to Jerome Z. Litt, M.D., a Cleveland-based dermatologist who spends much of his time trying to track down and record evidence of drug allergies.
"Drug reactions and interactions are diseases of medical progress," said Dr. Litt. "The reactions and interactions are the inevitable prices we pay for the benefits of modern drug therapy. New drugs are coming out on an almost daily basis ... and any drug or biological agent can potentially cause a reaction ...
