More recently, work in the groups at the Institute for Materials Research at Tohoku University, the W.M. Keck Laboratory of Engineering Materials at California Institute of Technology, and others have led to the development of several families of multi-component alloys which form metallic glasses at relatively low cooling rates, and this in turn has aroused renewed interest in the thermodynamic and liquid properties of undercooled metals as well as in the formation of such glasses.
