Do you remember white wine? It was that delicious, crisp, honeyed stuff one drank on long summer evening, sitting in the garden, smelling the roses and reading Proust. All right, I'm lying about the Proust, but to those of us who've spent June and July to date huddled by the fire with a hot toddy, the chilled bottle of fine white wine is indeed a remembrance of things past.
